Christ was perfect! How in the %&^ am I supposed to be perfect like Christ?? Opps. Guess Jesus didn't swear. Pardon me
Ah, I don't give a shit if you curse or not. I'm telling dad to damn things all the time. Just look at the Chicago Cubs!
.
did you know any brothers and sisters that attend(ed) meetings regularly, but deep inside seem(ed) to be very unhappy about being a witness?
i ask this question because many people are just blind followers, who don't dare question the leaders and follow like sheep.

while i'm not a regular as much as i used to be (maybe get to the hall 10 times a year), i always give praise and thanks to jehovah and his son jesus as requested in the bible on the appropriate day.
i have never missed a memorial.
whether or not i agree with everything the gb or watchtower puts out or says, is irrelevant.
For some reason I just remembered that one of the last memorials I ever went to, after it was over I left quickly so I wouldn't have to be around those jerks very much and went and picked up a certain lady friend and went to a fancy place that most of the JW's thought was bad for whatever reasons. It was actually a pretty fun night because I looked good and had an atractive member of the opposite sex on my arm going to a kind of swanky place while knowing I wouldn't run into any JW's who would go run and tell the elders on me.
as a kid growing up with an elder father, from time to time we would have parts on stage at the meeting or assembly.
my dad had a certain talk he must have delivered to a couple dozen different congregations, about families.
during the talk, he would have my sister and i cause a scene during the talk, in which we would ultimately run on stage argueing.
Not a story about me but this kid I used to know named Scott W.
He was doing the bible reading talk and was a short kid so had to stand on a box as kids often do to see over the podium. During his talk he was moving around a little bit, started to lose his balance, grabbed the podium to steady himself, lost his balance, fell off the box, knocked over the podium that knocked over the microphone, and on his way down hit the curtains behind him and tore them down on his way. The way the story goes he just got up and locked himself in the bathroom for the rest of the meeting.
What's funny (sorta) is that this is the same kid who later had part of his weenie cut off because for some reason he decided to pee out his window and it fell shut while he was doing it.
even when i was a jw i thought it odd that witnesses gave so much importance to holidays.
when i was studying, i was bogged down with how awful they were because they are pagan and how wrong it was to celebrate.
it seems to me like more attention was donated to the issue of holidays than what the meat of christianity is.
Who cares how a certain tradition was started? All that matters is why its done now. I love that people want to get together and celebrate my birthday regardless of when I was actually born.

Ah yes, the fashion shows. Actually, I thought the conventions were more of a fashion show than the memorial. Mostly the girls showing of their hot bods in revealing outfits for prospective mates from other areas.
Ah come on now TR!!! What's so bad about that? I know that's one of the main reasons why so many JW boys (and a few girls) go to all those stupid assemblies. Then again, once you started talking to one of them the conversation was about as engaging as a brick wall.
What I think is really funny is people who insist on going to Olive Garden after the memorial.
I do think that one, if not the biggest reason why JW's do the whole memorial/fashion show bit is because they don't have any other reason to get dressed up. Years ago I know there used to be at least one family that would have a huge semi-formal party for all the JW kids in the area. The dad was an elder and was very popular with all the other elders so they were able to pull it off. Funny thing is now of the parents and 3 kids, one daughter goes occasionaly, one daughter is still a die hard, the son is disfellowshipped, the dad would be disfellowshipped if they could find him, and the mom is an apostate.
Come to think of it, most of the families that would actually do fun stuff for groups of kids are now apostate. And JW's say they're the happies people on earth!

Actually, I chose my name to piss off fundies. Someone once asked if they would pay attention if Jesus himself came on this board and told them what idiots they were. Apparently not.
Also, just because you CAN do something doesn't mean that you SHOULD do something. I can walk down the street wearing nothing but an accordian that's strategicaly placed in the dead of winter but that doesn't mean that I should. Not only that but look at well established web sites. With the exception of ads which are meant to do everything they can to catch your eye how many times do you see animated .gif's?

Hey Nick/Nancee, it doesn't matter where a bear poops in the woods. Its still poop.
So is your little cult.
a day ago the following was posted and namecalled a "cult" although it champions the real truth which is that god welcomes diversity in views, unity coming from kindness rather than forced sameness of beliefs.
would you like to apologize?
hey there!
Sorry you're such a frickin' idiot.
Also, remember that the JW's don't think they're in a cult either.
And while I'm at it, I'm still expecting you to get back to me about the allegations that you molest dead animal corpses after you sacrifice them to the devil. I'm sorry if this is to complicated for you to understand but your silence means that its true and you're just trying to hide it.
Quick joke - What's the difference between Nick/Nancee and Russell? At least Russell was succesful in building a large cult.
Did you notice? I apologized twice. Happy now? How about if I give you a nice piece of something shiny? Would that make you happy? Maybe if it was some tinfoil you could make a nice little hat out of it!
Also, I don't really care how determined you get. I hope you get very determined with your stupid little cult. If someone is stupid enough to fall for your BS then they get what they deserve and in the mean time you just provide a nice laugh for the rest of us.

Please don't do this. There are numerous reasons why this is a bad idea.
First of all is the fact that you're linking to images stored on someone else's webserver. Often times, webmasters don't host their own sites, they pay someone else to do it for them. They pay based on how much traffic their site gets. For everytime that YOU use one of their images THEY have to pay for it. Probably not much but it adds up. Also, often times sites pay for that bandwidth with advertising. When you just use one image from their site they don't get the money from their advertisers. Personally, I hate all the ads on the net but, like it or not, that's how the bills are paid.
Another reason why you shouldn't do this is because its just downright annoying. Sure, you may think an animated logo is cute or funny but when you're trying to read a post that constant movement draws your eye and makes it hard to focus on what you're actually trying to read and personaly, when I see someone using their fancy little animated logo it just makes me think of someone who's words aren't strong enough and they have to resort to stupid little gimmicks to get people's attention.
i have small children.
i was raised a witness, so i never celebrated holidays.
now, i don't go to meetings, don't agree that the watchtower is jehovahs sole channel of communication.
Franc has a really good point there. Who cares if you like it or not. I'm sure your children would. Besides, you had a cult to explain why they didn't celebrate Christmas before. What's your excuse now? Denying it to your kids is just kind of mean. Its a great way to spend some time with your family in a very loving enviroment. So you may not agree with the origins of the holiday. Big whoop. Do you agree with the origins of wedding rings? Do you wear one despite your reservations? Don't make your children outsiders because you still hold onto the BS of your old religous cult.
